TRASH (2024)

Created from texts written between March 2020 and October 2021, TRASH is the portrait of a young writer stuck at home during the COVID-19 pandemic. With no work, money, social life, or prospects of improvement, the succeeding events and circumstances transport the young man into a spiral that rapidly degenerates his mental health, until he compares his own existence to rubbish.

There are four figures on stage: the Young Man, the source of the thoughts to which we gain access, who is accompanied by the script in his hand, something that guides him through the show; the Voice, played by a different person every performance, who listens to the script through an audio recording and then repeats it, representing a superficial layer of the Young Man's mind; the Video, which gives the audience access to a deeper layer of the Young Man’s psychology; and a robot vacuum cleaner, with speakers, simulating all other characters in the Young Man's life, present through a machine.

The narrative, inspired by the pandemic period and the various quarantines, presents us with a young artist, stuck in his home and with limited contact with the world. With no work, money, social life, or prospects of improvement, the succeeding events and circumstances transport the young man into a spiral that rapidly degenerates his mental health, until he compares his own existence to rubbish. By forcing himself to find alternatives ways of approaching life, and feeling present in it, we witness his process of resetting and relearning the notion of life and happiness through art.
